Surbana Jurong holds brand inauguration event in Myanmar

Surbana Jurong’s Myanmar office successfully held its brand inauguration event on 26 February 2016, Friday in Yangon. It marks the official launch of the new Surbana Jurong brand in the Myanmar market.

The event was graced by Guests of Honour, U Kyaw Lwin, Myanmar’s Union Minister of Construction, His Excellency Mr Robert Chua, Singapore Ambassador to Myanmar and Mr Liew Mun Leong, Chairman of Surbana Jurong. Mr Teo Eng Cheong, CEO International as well as senior representatives from the Myanmar government agencies, Clients and partners, also attended the event.

Opening the event was CEO, International, Mr Teo Eng Cheong, who shared with the audience Surbana Jurong’s Myanmar journey and reaffirmed our commitment to grow our presence and build capabilities in the construction and building development sector. He introduced our recent expansion into the industrial and infrastructure sectors and the new projects secured. This includes an underground engineering project for Myanmar’s first underground pedestrian walkway, as well as the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone’s industrial park and deep sea port project where we partnered CITIC Group in the winning tender submission, providing masterplanning, infrastructure and port planning services.

Mr Teo also announced that Mr Lee Leong Seng will succeed Mr Gareth Wong as the General Manager for the Myanmar office. Gareth will be returning to Surbana Jurong Singapore HQ as the Senior Vice President in the Chairman’s office.

Mr Lee Leong Seng, General Manager, Myanmar said, “The Myanmar office has grown tremendously over the past 3 years. We have entered new market segments and expanded our geographical footprints beyond Yangon. We have also built up a great team that will stand us in good stead in the future. This is an exciting time for Surbana Jurong and I am looking forward to steering the next phase of growth for the Myanmar office. “
